From May 4-6, 2018 we organized in Astorga the first edition of the Gaudí Challenges, a 48-hour sprint that brought together 50 students from Universidad de León distributed in ten teams to answer a big question:
how to improve tourist-cultural accessibility generating positive impact in the community?
Participants received transportation, accommodation, materials and six sequenced workshops that combined field research, ideation and storytelling inspired by Gaudí's way of working.

Challenge
- To demonstrate that the Gaudí methodology could generate inclusive and viable solutions in just two days.
- Encourage collaboration between very diverse profiles (art, design, technology and business).
- Deliver projects ready to seek mentoring and piloting.

Solution
The Girl Po-Güell team, made up of five students from the University of León, exemplified how to apply the method:
- Rigorous observationThey interviewed pilgrims, families and residents with reduced mobility; they detected that the biggest barrier was not technological but the lack of clear signage and personalized routes.
- Theyreframedthe problem as "universal access to the experience", avoiding costly infrastructure.
- Simple and powerful solutionThey proposed Tour Experience: low-cost physical signage (mini-statues and QR) combined with an app/web that adapts itineraries according to each visitor's profile, interests and restrictions.
- Circular thinkingUse of local materials and local labor to manufacture signage, supporting commerce and reducing carbon footprint.
The jury valued how, through direct conversation with users and analysis of existing resources, the creators transformed a "big problem" into an immediate and scalable solution.
